Approach

Artist interested by the human condition, Claude Philippe Nolin is multidisciplinary artist, an essay writer and a cultural worker animated by an emergency feeling with respect to the survival of humanity.

Native of Montreal, he studies the advertisement drawing at the Institute of Graphic arts of Montreal then, after a few years to be worked as graphic designer, he graduate at the baccalaureat in Visual arts of the UQAM.

 

He considers art as means of communication which have the potential to transform the society and the education, whisch are essential for social emancipation. 

 

At the end of its studies, he works with the measuring rod as a graphic designer then, like computer graphics expert in support with teaching and search in various institutions of higher education.

He is member of Les Ateleiers Continus and Les Ateliers du Parc, collectives of artists and specialists in audio-visual in Montreal. 

 

From 1989 to 1992, he is president of the Corporation de la Nuit de la Pointe-sèche for which he organizes events of creation and diffusion for this technique of engraving.

 

He also teach in art and communication, media art and multi-media in Montreal and in the Bas-Saint-Laurent where he was established in 1990. 

 

In Rimouski, he undertakes studies of second cycle in education and scenarisation with the UQAR and invested in several cultural organizations.

 

During the same period, he becomes chronicler for Le Mouton Noir, an alternative newspaper, and caricaturist for the weekly magazine le Fleuve.

 

In 1996, he studies in Graphic Art and Video at Institute ICARI of Montreal. He returns to Montreal at the end of 1999 and quickly becomes a specialist in the design of interface and Web architecture for e-learning. He frequently works in collaboration with research teams, teachers, technicians and artists.

 

Among its principal achievements, he conceives and produces Internet sites of the Atlases of Quebec, the Bas-Saint-Laurent and the metropolitan region.  In team with a programmer, it conceives one of the first systems multi users of update automated for Internet sites as well as a new form of interactive media using of the images .gif multi levels. 

 

The contracts being done rarer, he works as technician in museology for various institutions while supplementing in 2012, a certificate in communication at UQÀM. 

 

Parallel to its career and with its family life, it maintains a production artistic varied, passing from engraving to painting, installations data base to media arts then, more recently, by photography and the woodcarving. 

During years, various events lead it to develop a certain expertise in the theories in art and communication as well as a great interest for the economic globalisation and its effects on the democracy, the rights and liberties.

 

Today, at the end of many years of work to the measuring rod, it decides to be devoted more to its artistic engagement and cultural work. 

 

He presents a series of photographs and texts on the topic of the rights and freedoms at the time of the Social forum of Quebec in 2910 and which circulates since in small coffees montréalais and at the time of cultural events.

 

He is member of the Québécois Council of media arts (CQAM), the RAAV and the DAM.

 

He work for the Art and Culture Teem group at de World Social Forum - Montréal 2016. Its objective is to support, by its art and its interventions in the cultural field, the handing-over in question of certain societal paradigms which will make it possible to the citizens to better take up the social and environmental challenges to which they from now on are confronted.
